ADO Tribute to the departed

On October 11, 2020, ADO will be celebrating our twenty-third anniversary. We could not have done all that we do without the many acts of selfless support and assistance from our members, supporters, families, and friends. More importantly, this 23rd Year milestone would not have been possible without the hard work of some of our founding members who are no longer with us. Consequently, we seize this moment to thank and pay tribute to the following members who have become ancestors for their devotion to their hometown, Ouanaminthe:

1. Mrs. Iramene Florival 9.29.1948 - 2.11.2017. She was devoted to the cause of Ouanaminthe. She originated the idea and lobbied every capable person she could find to create a Committee responsible for the day-to-day operation. Devotedly, Iramene volunteered her home for the monthly meetings. 
2. Mr. Reynold Florival 6.11.1938 - 5.24.2015 the husband of Iramene. He was a true believer in joining hands together to help. Even though he worked on the Saturdays of the ADO meetings, Reynold always made sure someone was there to provide access to his home for our monthly meeting.
3. Mr. Joseph Clermont 2.28.1948 – 4.15.2016. He was the second member of the duo that came up with the idea of creating the Association. Duly was a well-known member of our Community and had a unique way to find the funds necessary for the Association. 
4. Mr. Turnier Pierre Louis 09.27.1933 - 09.05.2003. At the time of our founding, he was the only member with any experience in running an organization. Thus, he became the go-to person. His advice was well received and he composed and mailed literature to our members. Turnier was the organizer of our first two General Assemblies.  
5. Mr. Josue Lamour 12.11.1938 - 2.26.2016. He was a secondary school Principal in Haiti and was the Architect of our Chart. Josue was always on the phone with lawyers to make sure the wordings of our Chart were precise and accepted by the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
6. Mrs. Clotilde Pierre 7.22.1953 – 12.16.2013. She was the ultimate selfless member. At our fundraiser and dinner dances, she was the first person the guest would meet at the door. She always had a smile as she greeted the guests. Clotide was the Gatekeeper. She never tired of the job though most of the time she did it by herself. During our functions, we felt obligated to come out from the hall to provide periodic reports, as she would sacrifice her own enjoyment for the Association. 
7. Mrs. Marie Manigat 11.11.1952 – 07.04.2016. She was one of the most popular persons in our community. As such, she used her popularity to invite all of her contacts to our functions. Moreover, Marie was the liaison between the Diaspora and Ouanaminthe.

With much pride, ADO salutes the aforementioned ancestors who serve as inspirations. They motivate us to work harder in preparing the torch for the next generation.
